Three former Pakistani Army officers have been detained by the military in connection with court martial proceedings against former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, PTI reported on Thursday.
Hameed, who led the ISI from 2019 to 2021, was earlier arrested following a complaint by a private property developer, accusing him of misusing his official authority.
As per the news agency report, military’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed that the three retired officers were taken into custody for actions deemed detrimental to military discipline.
The ongoing investigation also involves other retired officers and their associates, who are suspected of inciting instability in collaboration with political interests.
The identities of the detained officers have not been disclosed. The investigation into Hameed began after the Supreme Court instructed the defence ministry to probe allegations from the owner of Top City Housing Society, who claimed that his property was raided in November 2023, with valuable items, including gold, taken.
Hameed was seen as influential during his tenure as ISI chief and was known to have close ties with former Army chief Gen Qamar Bajwa.
He took early retirement in November 2022, four months before his official retirement date, after the current Army chief assumed command.
