Kolkata rape-murder case: Post-mortem report reveals 14 injuries; CBI probes multiple suspects

Medicos protest over brutal rape and murder of doctor in Kolkata.

Kolkata: The post-mortem report of the woman doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, who was raped and murdered on August 9, revealed 14 injuries on her body, all of which were antemortem, PTI reported quoting sources.

The report detailed injuries on various parts of the body, including the head, face, neck, limbs, and genitalia.

It also noted hemorrhaging in the lungs, blood clots, and a white viscid liquid in the genital area, indicating sexual assault. The cause of death was identified as manual strangulation combined with smothering, with the manner of death being homicidal.

The findings align with claims from protesting medical students that multiple individuals were involved in the crime, though only one person, Sanjay Roy, has been arrested so far.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which took over the case following a Calcutta High Court order, is continuing to question other suspects, including the former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College, Sandip Ghosh, who has been interrogated for several hours.
