Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Lebanon that it could face the same fate as Gaza if it continues to allow Hezbollah to operate within its borders.
His comments came as the Israeli military ramped up its offensive against Hezbollah along Lebanon’s southern coast, deploying additional troops and ordering people to leave the area.
“You have the chance to save Lebanon from plunging into a long, devastating war like the one in Gaza,” Netanyahu said, addressing the Lebanese people.
“I urge you to free your country from Hezbollah to bring an end to this conflict.”
He added, “You are at a crucial juncture. Take control of your country, or Hezbollah will keep using densely populated areas to fight Israel at your expense, dragging Lebanon into a broader war.”
Netanyahu also stated that Israeli forces had eliminated thousands of Hezbollah members, including Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, along with his potential successors.
