Srinagar: Moments after the JK assembly passed a resolution to restore Article 370, BJP legislators erupted in a fierce protest, calling the government’s move an “anti-national agenda.”
Shouting slogans like “Jai Shri Ram,” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” and “Aug 5 Zindabad,” the 28 BJP MLAs surged into the Well of the House, rejecting the resolution with shouts of “shame, shame.”
BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma led the charge, standing on a table to accuse the National Conference (NC) of exploiting J&K’s emotions for decades.
“From Sheikh Abdullah to Omar Abdullah, emotional blackmail has been a routine,” he asserted, denouncing the resolution as a political ploy.
The protest intensified as Sharma claimed NC wanted to rename the iconic Shankaracharya Hills to Takht-e-Sulaimani, saying, “This is their agenda, and we won’t allow it.”
Amid chants and strong opposition, BJP legislators condemned what they described as a betrayal of the nation’s interests.
