At least 36 people were killed and 17 injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting southern and eastern Lebanon, media reports confirmed.
In the eastern Baalbek-Hermel governorate, airstrikes killed 11 persons, including eight in a residential apartment in Nabi Chit and three in Hermel, according to the National News Agency (NNA).
Meanwhile, in southern Lebanon, 25 fatalities were reported: nine in Maarakeh, three in Ain Baal, two in Ghazieh, 10 in the Tyre district, and one in Yohmor. The strikes in Tyre also left 17 people injured.
On the same day, Hezbollah launched attacks on multiple Israeli positions, including the Shraga Base, the administrative headquarters of the Golani Brigade Command near Acre. Hezbollah also targeted Israeli forces in two northern moshavim, the Malkiyeh settlement, and a house in Al-Bayada, reportedly causing significant casualties and structural damage, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) condemned the ongoing violence, describing attacks on the Lebanese Armed Forces as a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and international humanitarian law. UNIFIL called for resolving the conflict through dialogue rather than violence.
The Lebanese army reported intensified Israeli attacks, including a recent strike on Sunday targeting a post in the Ameriya axis near Qlaileh-Tyre road, which killed one soldier and injured 18 others.
The situation remains dire as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalate, with Israeli ground operations into Lebanon adding to the hostilities since early October.
