Leh: The Ladakh Lt Governor, Brig (Retd) B D Mishra, received the final report on identifying areas near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) for granting reservations to residents, according to a Raj Bhawan spokesperson on Wednesday.
Justice (Retd) Bansi Lal Bhat, Chairman of the Reservation Commission for LAC in Ladakh and a former judge of the Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh High Court, submitted the report to the Lt Governor during a meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, the spokesperson said.
The primary task of the one-member commission was to evaluate whether reservations should be provided to residents of areas adjacent to the LAC for recruitment under the Ladakh administration, in line with the J&K Reservation Act, 2004. This assessment was conducted while ensuring administrative efficiency and adherence to minimum recruitment standards.
The commission also focused on defining criteria for designating an area as adjoining the LAC and applying these criteria to assess the inclusion of villages, the official added.
During the meeting, Justice (Retd) Bhat briefed the Lt Governor on the commission’s findings. Lt Governor Mishra praised Justice Bhat’s dedication and timely completion of the report.
