Ludhiana: Title contenders Real Kashmir FC faced disappointment in their first away match of the I-League 2024-25 season, losing to Namdhari FC 1-0 on Sunday.
With this victory, Namdhari FC earned their second consecutive win, taking their tally to seven points after five rounds, while Real Kashmir remains with eight points. This was Real Kashmir’s first defeat of the season.
Namdhari FC now sits fifth in the points table, closing in on Real Kashmir, who occupy fourth place.
The match’s only goal came in the 15th minute, courtesy of Namdhari’s Brazilian striker Cledson Dasilva Degol. However, his day ended on a sour note when he was sent off in the 60th minute for a reckless tackle from behind.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Namdhari managed to hold on to their lead, with Real Kashmir failing to capitalize on the advantage.
Namdhari’s attack started strongly, with several attempts to breach Real Kashmir’s defense. Degol’s header, his fourth of the season, followed a well-executed move from the left flank. Real Kashmir responded aggressively in the second half but wasted several chances. Lalramdinsanga Ralte missed a key opportunity in front of goal, and Ghanaian Kamal Issah failed to convert despite an open target.
Though Real Kashmir tested Namdhari goalkeeper Jaspreet Singh, it was defender Akashdeep Singh who cleared a shot off the line to preserve the home side’s lead. Despite dominating the Namdhari penalty box, Real Kashmir could not find the equaliser.
