Srinagar: With Kashmir already grappling with power challenges in winter, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Friday directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply and other essential arrangements for the January 26 event during a high-level review meeting. The focus was on meticulous preparations for the main celebration at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.
Bidhuri stressed upon the importance of synergy among departments to avoid any glitches. KPDCL was tasked with ensuring proper illumination of government buildings and the event venue, while the Public Works Department (R&B) was instructed to arrange seating and heating facilities. The police and traffic departments were directed to manage security and ensure smooth movement around the venue.
The meeting also covered finalizing contingents, cultural programs, and expert commentators for live event coverage. The Floriculture Department was asked to create decorative floral setups, and the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) was instructed to conduct cleanliness drives and arrange for snow clearance.
To address emergencies, the Health Department was directed to deploy doctors, paramedics, and ambulances at the venue. Transportation and accommodation facilities for student participants were also discussed.
Senior officials from civil and security departments, along with Deputy Commissioners from other districts via video conferencing, attended the meeting. Div Com Bidhuri urged all departments to complete preparations well in advance to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
