Srinagar: Ahead of the January 26 event, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, has chaired a meeting with various top officials and directed them to focus on ensuring smooth and hassle-free celebrations for the event, particularly for the main event at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.
During the meeting, Bidhuri stressed upon the importance of close coordination among all departments to avoid any glitches. He directed KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply and proper illumination of government buildings and the event venue. The Public Works Department (R&B) was instructed to arrange seating and heating facilities for participants, while police and traffic departments were tasked with managing security and smooth movement around the venue.
The preparations also included finalising contingents, organising cultural programmes, and arranging expert commentators for live coverage. The Floriculture Department was asked to create decorative and creative floral arrangements, while the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) was directed to conduct cleanliness drives and prepare for snow clearance at the venue and parking areas in case of snowfall.
The Health Department was instructed to deploy doctors, paramedics, ambulances, and first aid teams at the event site to address any emergencies. Transport and accommodation arrangements for student participants were also discussed.
The meeting, attended by senior officials from civil and security agencies, including Deputy Commissioners of other districts via video conferencing, highlighted the collective commitment to flawless execution. Div Com Bidhuri urged all departments to complete preparations well in advance to ensure the smooth conduct of the Republic Day celebrations.
