Srinagar: Two western disturbances are expected to affect Jammu and Kashmir between January 1 and 6, according to Jammu and Kashmir meteorological department.

The first disturbance, a weak system, may bring light snowfall in scattered areas during the evening and night of January 1, continuing into the morning of January 2.

The second disturbance, moderate in intensity, is expected from January 3 to 6. It may bring light to moderate rain in Jammu’s plains and snow across various areas of JK. Peak activity is anticipated on January 4 and 5, with heavy snowfall likely in higher reaches, potentially causing disruptions.

The weather will remain dry on December 30 and 31. A cold wave is expected during this period, with sub-freezing temperatures creating icy road conditions. Travellers and tourists are advised to follow traffic and administrative guidelines and plan accordingly.
