No proof of rape allegations from Oct 7 Hamas attacks: Israeli authorities admit

Israeli officials have confirmed that no reports of rape or sexual assault emerged from the October 7 cross-border infiltration by Palestinian resistance factions, following extensive investigations.

Moran Gaz, former lead prosecutor in Israel’s Southern District Prosecutor’s Office and member of Team 7.10, revealed the findings in an interview with Ynet.

Her team, tasked with cases involving captured Palestinians linked to the attacks, found no evidence of sexual violence.

“In the end, we don’t have any complainants. What was presented in the media compared to what will eventually come together will be entirely different,” Gaz stated.

Women’s rights organizations approached by her office also reported no cases. “They told us that no one had approached them,” she added, as per the report.

Unverified claims of mass rape by Palestinian fighters had garnered widespread media attention, contrasting starkly with the minimal coverage of similar accusations against Israeli occupation forces.

In March 2023, UN experts debunked similar allegations, labeling them as either unverified or false.

Despite this, Gaz maintained a hardline stance, asserting that those detained in connection with the attacks “have no right to live.”

Skepticism around Israeli narratives has grown, with critics arguing such claims are used to justify ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Since October 7, over 45,800 people, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Israel faces international scrutiny, with the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November for war crimes.

A genocide case against Israel is also being heard at the International Court of Justice.
