New Delhi: India and the United States have signed an agreement to enhance collaboration in cybercrime investigations, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Washington DC on Friday by Indian Ambassador Vinay Kwatra and Acting US Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Kristie Canegallo, the MEA announced.

The agreement was finalised just days before the Biden administration transitions power to the Trump administration.

The pact aims to strengthen cooperation and training between the two nations’ agencies, focusing on the use of cyber threat intelligence and digital forensics in criminal investigations.

India’s implementation of the MoU will be overseen by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Home Ministry.

On the US side, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including its agencies such as US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Homeland Security Investigations Cyber Crimes Center, will manage the agreement’s execution.
