New Delhi: Sixteen bills, including the Finance Bill 2025 and amendments to Waqf and banking laws, will be introduced in Parliament’s Budget session starting Friday.

Key proposals include merging the Indian Railways and Railways Board Acts and changes to disaster management and oil exploration laws, reported news agency IANS.

Other expected bills involve updates to shipping regulations, renaming the Institute of Rural Management Anand as Tribhuvan Sahkari University, and adjustments to immigration laws. A bill reallocating Assembly seats for Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Goa is also on the agenda.

The Finance Bill is significant, as it may introduce a new tax code to simplify income tax rules. Amendments to banking laws aim to improve governance and investor protection.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which proposes major changes to the management of Muslim charitable properties, has sparked controversy, with opposition protests against the ruling party’s handling of amendments.

Additional bills will modernise maritime laws, strengthen disaster management, and improve safety regulations for industrial boilers.
