Mahakumbh: Secretly filmed videos of women taking bath being sold online

Images and videos of women bathing and changing clothes, reportedly from the Mahakumbh, are circulating on social media and Telegram.

Prayagraj: Secretly recorded videos of women bathing and changing clothes at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj are being circulated on social media and Telegram, with some being sold as explicit content.

India Today Fact Check found multiple Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram pages sharing these videos, often redirecting users to Telegram groups selling access to more footage.

Some channels, using hashtags like #mahakumbh2025 and #gangasnan, falsely claim older videos are from the ongoing festival. Certain Telegram groups charge between Rs1,999 and Rs3,000 for access to these private videos. Searches for terms like “open bathing” surged on Telegram between February 12-18.

“Videos of women in labor rooms, beauty parlors, and even bathing at Mahakumbh are being secretly recorded and sold online for ₹999-₹1500. These videos are available on Telegram and YouTube: This is not just voyeurism; it’s a full-fledged criminal nexus!,” one suer wrote on X, expressing frustration.

Alongside these voyeuristic clips, some channels are also sharing CCTV footage of women undergoing medical examinations. While some of these groups have been deleted, the exploitation of private moments for profit remains a serious concern.
