Drug peddler’s house demolished in Samba, many detained: Police

Police said the property was built using money earned through drug trafficking.

Jammu: Authorities on Wednesday demolished a double-storey house belonging to an alleged drug peddler and detained several suspects in Samba district, officials reported.

The house, located in Bijru Chack village in Jammu’s Bishnah area, was recently constructed by Lahu Gujjar—an absconding drug peddler. Police said the property was built using money earned through drug trafficking. Despite being served a notice earlier, Gujjar failed to present himself before the authorities. He is wanted in multiple criminal cases, the police statement said.

Meanwhile, in a separate crackdown, a team led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) carried out raids in Balole Khad, Gujjar Basti, and nearby areas in Bari Brahmana, Samba. Several individuals were detained for questioning.

The raids were linked to an April 10 incident in which three policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO), were seriously injured during an anti-drug operation.
