Hindu right-wing groups VHP and Bajrang Dal storm Easter gathering in Ahmedabad; video goes viral

The screen shot shows right-wing storming inside the Church holding sticks and shouting slogans.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, members of two Hindu right-wing groups with a history of communal violence – Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal – disrupted an Easter prayer gathering in Odhav, Ahmedabad.

Armed with sticks and chanting slogans like “Jai Shri Ram,” they entered a private hall where approximately 100 Christians were assembled, alleging that religious conversions were taking place, various media houses reported.

Videos of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing the men confronting attendees and demanding to know how many were Hindus. Despite the aggressive nature of the intrusion, Ahmedabad Police reported that no physical altercations occurred. Inspector PN Zinzuvadia of Odhav police station stated that complaints were received from both the activists and a member of the Christian community. However, he noted that no evidence supporting the claims of forced conversions was found, The Indian Express reported.

As of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and no arrests have been made, as reported by Times of India. The police have indicated that they are investigating the matter further.
