Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway, along with the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road and Sinthan Road, remains closed due to landslides, mudslides, and snow accumulation over the past 48 hours.

These closures have been exacerbated by heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, particularly in the Ramban district, leading to major disruptions in vehicular movement.

However, the Mughal Road has been reopened for light motor vehicles (LMVs) travelling from Srinagar towards Jammu via Poonch. Vehicles are permitted to pass through Herpora between 10am and 3pm only.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travelling on highway, SSG Road, and Sinthan Road until further notice. For real-time updates and assistance, travellers can contact the following helpline numbers.

In the past 48 hours, Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district has faced severe devastation due to a cloudburst that triggered flash floods and landslides. This natural disaster has resulted in the deaths of three persons, including two children, and has left over 100 people stranded.

Visuals from the affected areas depict vehicles submerged in debris, roofs torn apart, and roads buried under mud and rocks.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities working to clear debris and restore connectivity. Residents have been advised to avoid travel in the region until conditions improve.
