Srinagar: In the wake of heightened security concerns following India’s targeted strikes under Operation Sindoor, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that residents in vulnerable border areas are being relocated to safer zones.

Sinha said that he reviewed the situation in border districts of Jammu and Kashmir with senior administrative, police, and district officials, including the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all border districts. He assured that the government is fully prepared to handle any situation that may arise.

“Took stock of the situation in border districts of J\&K UT with all the senior administrative, police & district officials, including DCs of all the border districts. I’m closely monitoring the situation & the government is fully prepared to deal with any eventuality,” LG Sinha stated.

In light of the security situation, LG Sinha also directed the DCs to evacuate villagers from vulnerable areas to safer locations. “I’ve also directed the DCs for shifting of villagers from vulnerable areas to safer locations and ensuring boarding, lodging, food, medicare, and transportation,” he added.

This decision follows the recent escalation of tensions in the region and comes after India’s air strikes on Pakistan.

As many as 10 civilians were killed late Tuesday night in indiscriminate firing and artillery shelling by Pakistan, NDTV reported.

The firing was across the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, said the Indian Army. In retaliation to the attack, the Indian Army said they had taken “proportionate” action.
