Schools, colleges, universities to remain closed on Friday, Saturday

Srinagar: Amid prevailing situation, authorities on Wednesday said that schools, colleges and universities shall remain closed across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and Saturday.

Minister of Education, Sakina Itoo said, “Keeping in view the safety of students, all the private and government schools, colleges and universities shall remain closed on Friday and Saturday.”

Registrar of KU also said, “We have decided to suspend the classwork for Friday. If there are any other changes, we will notify the students accordingly.”

It is notified for the information of all concerned that class work at Main Campus and all satellite campuses of the University of Kashmir shall remain suspended on May 9, the university management said.

“All Government and Private Schools of Baramulla, Kupwara, Sub-Division (Gurez) and schools falling in the proximity of Srinagar and Awantipora Airport shall remain closed on 9th and 10th of May 2025 as precautionary measures,” reads a statement by Director School Education Kashmir.
