Jammu: Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, and Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, on Friday visited the Mishriwala relief camp, where families displaced by heavy cross-border shelling from Pargwal and surrounding areas have taken shelter.
The ongoing shelling has compelled many border residents to abandon their homes, prompting swift relocation efforts by the administration to safeguard them at the camp.
During his visit, the Minister met with the displaced families, listened to their concerns, and reviewed the support being provided.
He expressed strong solidarity with the affected residents and reassured them of the government’s commitment to their well-being.
“Our top priority is the safety and dignity of every citizen,” Sharma said. “We are determined to ease the difficulties of those affected by the violence. I’ve instructed the administration to ensure immediate provision of shelter, food, clean water, medical care, and sanitation.”
He assessed the ongoing relief efforts and emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups, proper hygiene, and timely distribution of essential supplies.
He also directed officials to pay particular attention to the needs of children, women, and the elderly.
The Minister commended the prompt response of the district administration, forces, and volunteers working to maintain order and deliver aid.
He further noted that the border situation is under close watch and that the government is pursuing all necessary diplomatic and administrative measures to protect civilians and prevent further escalation.
