New Delhi: Maharashtra Cyber has traced over 1.5 million cyber attacks on India’s critical infrastructure to seven Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups, following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Only 150 of these attacks succeeded, officials confirmed to news agency PTI on Monday.

Despite a mutual agreement between India and Pakistan to halt military hostilities, Indian government websites continue to be targeted by cyber attacks originating from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and countries in the Middle East, the report said quoting officials.

A senior Maharashtra Cyber official, while talking to the news agency, refuted rumors about data breaches at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, and the hacking of aviation systems, civic networks, and the Election Commission website.

“The investigation shows a decline in cyber attacks after the ceasefire, but they haven’t stopped entirely. Threats continue to emerge from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Middle East,” the official stated.

A report titled ‘Road of Sindoor’, prepared as part of a military initiative under the same name, outlines cyber warfare tactics employed by Pakistan-backed hackers. The report has been shared with key law enforcement bodies, including the Director General of Police and the State Intelligence Department.

According to Additional Director General of Police Yashasvi Yadav, the attacks were carried out through malware, DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks, GPS spoofing, and website defacements. Indian systems, however, were largely protected due to preventive action.
