CM Omar Abdullah with General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt. Gen. Pratik Sharma.

Srinagar: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt. Gen. Pratik Sharma on Monday met former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and briefed him on the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and other border areas.

He was accompanied by Lt. Gen. Prashant Srivastava, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s strategic 15 Corps, responsible for operations in the Kashmir Valley.

Taking to social media after the meeting, Omar said the Army officers apprised him of recent developments along the borders.

“Our forces are doing a commendable job in protecting the nation,” he said.

The meeting comes amid heightened alert along the LoC and increased surveillance in forward areas following recent ceasefire violations and cross-border shelling.
