‘I firmly believe our brothers in PoK will voluntarily rejoin India’, says Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh on Thursday expressed confidence that Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) will one day reunite with India voluntarily, driven by shared identity and emotional ties.

Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Business Summit in New Delhi, Singh asserted that the people of PaK are part of India’s extended family and will eventually return, guided by their “inner voice” and sense of belonging.

He said, “I firmly believe our brothers in PoK, though separated politically and geographically, are still ours,” he said. “One day, they’ll say, ‘I am India, I have returned.’”

His remarks come in the wake of Operation Sindoor — India’s retaliatory strike against militant infrastructure in Pakistan and PaK following the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. Singh used the platform to stress both India’s military strength and its inclusive, humanistic approach to the region.

He underlined that most people in PaK retain a deep connection with India, and only a small section has been misled. India, he said, prefers to “connect hearts” through love, unity, and truth.
