Amid escalating tensions following midnight US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, panic has gripped many families in Kashmir whose children remain stranded across Iran, Jammu and Kashmir Students Association confirmed. However, officials have reassured that all students are currently safe.
More than 700 Kashmiri students studying in various parts of Iran are yet to be evacuated. Efforts are underway to relocate them to Mashhad and the Armenia border, from where they will be flown back to New Delhi. Two evacuation flights are scheduled for today, said JKSA
The Indian Embassy in Tehran, in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), is facilitating the evacuation process. Embassy officials are arranging necessary transportation and logistical support to ensure a safe and smooth return for the students.
Meanwhile, the Mahan Air flight (W50071A) has departed from Mashhad, Iran, carrying over 280 Indian students, including more than 200 Students from Kashmir. The flight is scheduled to land at Delhi Airport at 4.30pm today. It can be tracked using the following details: IRM071 (W571).
Nasir Asalm Wani, the political advisor of JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is overseeing the process, confirmed that seven Volvo and sleeper buses will transport the students from New Delhi.
