The Qatari government voiced serious concern on Sunday over the escalating regional crisis following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, calling for an immediate end to military actions and a return to diplomatic efforts.
In a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar expressed regret over the deteriorating situation and underscored the urgent need to defuse tensions through peaceful dialogue. The comments came after US President Donald Trump confirmed that American jets had struck three of Iran’s nuclear facilities late Saturday.
Referring to Iran as a “sisterly” country, Qatar warned that continued hostilities could lead to “catastrophic consequences” both within the region and globally. It urged all sides to act with “restraint and wisdom” to avoid further escalation.
“The people of the region — already suffering from the impact of prolonged conflict and humanitarian crises — cannot bear additional turmoil,” the ministry stated.
Qatar also reiterated its strong backing for international and regional diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving disputes and promoting long-term peace and stability in the Middle East.
The statement was issued amid growing concern among Gulf nations as tensions between Israel, Iran, and the US threaten to ignite a broader regional conflict. While Qatar maintains ties with both Tehran and Washington, it has consistently promoted dialogue over confrontation in handling regional issues.
