Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated on Tuesday morning that there is currently no ceasefire agreement with Israel, contradicting claims made by US President Donald Trump.
Araghchi said that Iran has no intention to continue its military response if Israel halts its “illegal aggression” against the Iranian people. He expressed gratitude to Iran’s armed forces, praising their readiness to defend the nation “to the last drop of their blood.”
“As we have said repeatedly, Israel started this war — not Iran,” Araghchi posted on X. “As of now, there is NO agreement on any ceasefire or suspension of military action.”
His remarks came just hours after Trump announced on Truth Social that a full ceasefire between Iran and Israel had been reached and would begin within six hours.
According to Araghchi, Iran is willing to pause operations only if Israel ends its offensive. He added that a final decision on halting Iranian strikes would be taken afterward.
Trump’s announcement followed Iran’s missile strike on the US-run Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, carried out in retaliation for the American bombing of three Iranian nuclear facilities. Tehran claimed it used *the same number of bombs* as the US had dropped on its sites.
President Trump downplayed Iran’s response, calling it “very weak,” and revealed that Tehran had notified Washington in advance. No casualties were reported.
Despite Trump’s ceasefire announcement, explosions were reported in Tehran early Tuesday. Araghchi confirmed that Iranian military operations continued until 4am.
“I salute our brave Armed Forces, who stood ready to defend Iran until the very last moment,” he said in a follow-up post.
The US said its earlier attack involved 14 bunker-busting bombs, over two dozen Tomahawk missiles, and more than 125 aircraft.
