Srinagar: Drones are fast becoming the new “over ground workers” (OGWs) for terror outfits in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a worrying shift in tactics, PTI reported quoting officials on Wednesday.
Instead of relying on human networks, which have weakened under security force crackdowns, terror groups are now using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for tasks like surveillance and transporting supplies.
Officials said many OGWs have either been arrested or gone underground, forcing terror groups to turn to drones. This shift signals a new phase in unconventional warfare, the report said.
They added that Pakistan’s spy agency ISI has also increased its use of drones to aid terrorist infiltration across the Line of Control (LoC).
