Jabalpur: A passenger’s simple desire for a samosa before boarding his train ended up costing him more than he expected — his watch.
The incident occurred on October 17 at Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh. While attempting to pay via UPI, the passenger noticed his train departing and rushed to catch it. The samosa vendor, identified as Sandeep Gupta, grabbed him by the collar and demanded payment.
When the digital transaction failed, the passenger handed over his watch instead.
A video of the episode quickly went viral, drawing widespread condemnation online, though some supported the vendor’s actions.
The West Central Railway confirmed the incident, stating that the vendor was identified, arrested under the Railway Act, and a case registered.
Railway officials also announced that Gupta’s licence was being cancelled. The action sparked debate on social media, with many questioning the severity of the response given the vendor’s poor background and circumstances.
