Palestinians in Gaza say there is no real change in their lives since the ceasefire took effect, with Israel continuing intermittent air and ground attacks while maintaining tight restrictions on humanitarian aid.
According to local reports cited by Al Jazeera, Israeli strikes and shelling have persisted in parts of the enclave despite the truce, leaving civilians struggling for basic necessities amid widespread devastation.
Late on Tuesday night, Hamas handed over the bodies of two Israeli captives, a forces personnel and a civilian, which were later confirmed and identified by Israeli authorities.
Meanwhile, US envoy Steve Witkoff claimed the Gaza ceasefire is “exceeding expectations,” even as hospitals in the territory received 13 bodies in the past 24 hours following renewed Israeli assaults.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israel’s war on the territory has so far killed at least 68,229 people and injured 170,369 since October 2023. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed during the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023.
Despite international calls for restraint and a sustained halt in hostilities, Gazans say the ceasefire remains largely symbolic, with aid restrictions and sporadic bombings continuing to deepen the humanitarian crisis.
