Srinagar: The opposition National Conference lead by its General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar staged a protest rally against the braid chopping incidents in the valley.
The rally started from the Nawa-e-Subh, the party headquarters however, it was stopped by the police near the Sher-e-Kashmir park.
Sagar accused the government of shielding the culprits.
“The government is in complete knowhow of who the real culprits are but still they continue to maintain silence on this conspiracy,” said the NC General Secretary while addressing the workers.
He added, “It is they who have to ensure protection of our mothers, sisters and daughters but they have failed miserably to do that. They are only interested in clinging to their chairs, which has been their primary goal ever since they came into power.”
He also added that it’s not only National Conference which is up in arms against the government but people belonging to every ideology are questioning the present dispensation.
“It’s not only our party which is on roads all over the valley but others too have joined the movement of reminding this government of its primary responsibility which is to protect the lives and dignity of its people. Every right thinking individual, whether it is the civil society, mainstream opposition leaders or the religious leaders, all have spoken against government’s inability to tackle such the continuous spree of braid chopping incidents.”
The protesting NC workers also questioned the ‘confusion’ among the different ranks of the government. They said that the Government and the police is calling the whole thing as ‘mass hysteria’ while on the other hand State Women’s commission is not ready to accept that theory.
