Ask why only Muslim part of colonies have been targeted by JDA

Say demolition drives should have ensured evacuation of children

Jammu: A strong protest was held at Talab Khatikan Jammu in support of Muslim residents of Gole Gujral, who were subject to harassment by Jammu Development Authority’s (JDA) demolition squad.

There are allegations desecration of the Holy Qura’an, which the locals say has ‘unveiled a hidden agenda of anti-national forces who are playing dirty tricks to hurt the sentiments of Muslims’.

The Jammu Muslim Front (JMF) leaders while showing their solidarity with ‘Muslim brothers of Gole Gujral’, have appealed to the government to issue a ‘White Paper’ on the land encroached on the banks of Ranbir Canal used for religious purposes, to be made public.

In a statement, the JMF said that this colony (G0le Gujral) existed before the birth of JDA, and that they do not object to eviction, but the shameful way of JDA shows the hidden force behind them, with a motive to target the Muslim community.

“This operation should have been carried out with precaution, evacuating children, but the administration has lost its moral ground, and is targeting peaceful Muslims of Jammu.

The JMF said that the Government should speak out clearly why the Muslim community is being subjected to harassment time & again.

“The BJP-PDP government should explain, why is there only one sided action, targeting only one community,” JMF said.

The chairman of the Front, Shuja Zaffar, said that there is total failure of the government in establishing the rule of law and added that such official working is harmful for the interest of country, justice, honesty and equality.

The Front leaders Qazi Imran, Habib Shiekh, Bashir Qureshi, Mohd Sadiq condemned the ‘unfortunate action’ of JDA and appealed to the government to initiate ‘strict action against all those involved in this action’.
