LoC ceasefire violation: Killed 7 Pak soldiers, says India; killed 3 Indian soldiers, says Pakistan

New Delhi: The Indian Army on Monday claimed that they killed seven Pakistani soldiers after they retaliated to the ‘unprovoked ceasefire violation’ from the Pakistani side.

The action took place at the Line of Control in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district. The forces also claimed that four Pakistani soldiers were injured.

However, the spokesperson of the Pakistani Army claimed that three Indian soldiers were killed too. There was no word on that from the Indian side.

“4 Pakistan Army soldiers embraced shahadat along LOC in Jandrot, Kotli sector. Troops were busy in Line communication maintenance when they were fired upon and hit by heavy mortar round. Exchange of fire killed 3 Indian soldiers while few injured,” Major General Asif Ghafoor wrote on his Facebook page.

Quoting sources, the Indian Express reported that Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling at the LoC. The Indian Army retaliated strongly and the exchange of fire lasted for nearly an hour.

The violation has taken place on a day when the Indian Army chief has said that if Pakistan doesn’t stop sneaking in militants in Kashmir, they would be forced to step up military offensive against them.

Also, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, less than 24 hours ago had batted for cordial relations between both countries as Jammu and Kashmir is the main victim of hostilities between the two countries.
