Mehbooba Mufti on Friday while accusing Pakistan for the flare up at the border in Jammu, has said that the country has shown no respect for the month of Ramzan.
In a series of tweets, Mehbooba said that while India took the initiative of a ceasefire, Pakistan should reciprocate.
Continued firing on the border in Jammu is cause of pain & worry. Sad that while our country took the lead in starting peace initiatives with cessation of operations during Ramzan, Pakistan has shown no respect whatsoever for this holy month. 1/2

As Indian and Pakistani forces exchanged heavy fire in Jammu along the International Border, four civilians, a BSF trooper has been killed and 12 others have been injured. This is third day of cross border shelling along the IB in Jammu frontier.
Recently, after Mehbooba Mufti government proposed a Ramzan Ceasefire, the GoI announced will not launch operations during the holy month. However, the ministry of Home Affairs added that the forces reserve the ‘right to retaliate or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people.’
The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the ceasefire and thanked Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Modi for their personal intervention.
However Al Umar Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba have rejected the Ramzan ceasefire initiative.
