UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Friday at an event at the Gorakshpeeth Temple, hit at citizens from the Muslim community who issue ‘fatwas’ in the country and said the country is not run by them but the Constitution of India given by the likes of B.R Ambedkar, IANS reported.

Saying that the problems of the people can be sorted by the Constitution of India, he said, “The nation will be safe when religion is.”

“Here there is no disparity. All sects, communities, religions are treated alike,” he said in reference to the temple’s various health and other programmes.

Meanwhile, a Sessions Court in UP has ordered a notice against Adityanath for involvement in a 19 year-old murder case, which dates back to 1999, News18 reported.

The case relates to Satya Prakash Yadav, a personal security officer of then Samajwadi Party leader Talat Aziz who was killed during a protest organised by the party.

According to the police files quoted by News18, Yadav was killed during the protest in Maharajganj when a group allegedly led by Adityanath opened fire on the agitators.

Aziz had filed a plea to reopen the case was turned down by a Sessions Court in March this year. She then filed a review petition at the Lucknow High Court, which then directed the Sessions Court to reopen the trial.
