Religious places to reopen from August 16, says JK Admin

Srinagar: The J&K Administration on Tuesday took a decision to open all religious places and places of worship in Jammu & Kashmir from August 16, 2020.

However, the ban on religious processions and large religious gatherings remain strictly prohibited.

Principal secretory power and information, Rohit Kansal took to twitter and wrote, “major decision by J&K Government. All religious places and places of worship to open in Jammu & Kashmir from August 16, 2020. Religious processions and large religious gatherings remain strictly prohibited.”

In a separate order issued by the administration today, classifying districts into red, orange, and green zones, all districts of  Kashmir continue to remain in red zone except for Bandipora. While in Jammu, only Ramban district is enlisted as red zone.

The restriction on inter-province or inter-State/UT movement of individuals will continue to remain in place except after obtaining permissions or in permitted public transport, after following prescribed health protocols.

The movement of individuals for all non-essential activities between 10 pm to 5 am also stand prohibited till further orders.

Earlier on Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Administration announced that 590 new COVID cases were reported in JK, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 22006.

While Kashmir reported three more deaths due to COVID since yesterday, taking the fatality count to 412 in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said on Tuesday.
