Police inspector shot dead in south Kashmir’s Anantnag

Anantnag: A Jammu and Kashmir Police officer was shot dead by suspected militants in Sundpora Kenalwan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday evening.

Official sources said that militants fired at the Police inspector identified as  Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, a resident of Sundpora Kanelwan, when he was returning home after offering prayers.

Soon after the incident, Bhat was rushed to the hospital for treatment; however, doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, armed forces have cordoned off the area and searches are going on.
