BJP only knows how to ‘spread hatred, instigate people’ in the name of Hindus and Muslims: Digvijaya Singh

Bhopal: Taking a jibe at the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), a senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Digvijaya Singh said that BJP has “no other issue to discuss other than spreading hatred and instigate people in the name of Hindus and Muslims”.

“If a Muslim boy marries a Hindu girl it is love jihad. In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet, Naqvi has married a Hindu woman, BJP leader Hussain’s partner is also Hindu..is this also a love jihad,” Singh asked, according to a report by Times Now.

According to the report, the “love Jihad” comment made by Digvijaya Singh was hurled on India’s Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and another BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain.

“They (BJP) have no agenda, no issues to discuss, other than raising Hindu-Muslim. They only want to spread hatred and instigate people in the name of Hindus and Muslims. We oppose this,” the report quoted Congress leader as having said.

Earlier, another senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath referred to BJP minister Imarti Devi as an ‘item’, while addressing a rally in Dabra.

While campaigning in Dabra area in Gwalior district on October 18, Nath had said: “Wo kya hai… main uska naam kyun lun… aapko mujhe satark karna chahiye tha… kya item hai… (Who is she… What’s her name? You all should have warned me… what an item!).”

Reacting to it, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi later said that it was “unfortunate” that Nath made the item jibe against Imarti Devi.

“Kamal Nathji is from my party, but personally I don’t like the type of language that he used; I don’t appreciate it, regardless of who he is. It is unfortunate,” Gandhi had said.
