Srinagar: Aniuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid announced that there shall be no Shab-e-Qadr prayers at the grand masjid due to the exponential rise in COVID cases and lockdown, which has been imposed in the wake of the second wave of coronavirus.
Anjuman in a statement stressed upon the people to spend these holy occasions especially the last 10 days of Ramazan at their homes by holding special prayers, dhikr-o-adhkaar and manaajaat besides praying to Almighty Allah to grant us complete refuge from the deadly virus.
The Anjuman stressed upon the people to religiously follow the COVID SOPs and guidelines saying the priority must be to save lives and prevent the virus from spreading.
“The best way to do that right now is to stay indoors.” It also reiterated its appeal to people to get administered with Covid vaccine.
Pertinently, no prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid on Jamat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy fasting month Ramzan.
The historic Jamia Masjid remained closed for congregational prayers since April 29, in view of the ban on gatherings and mass prayers to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
