Bandipora: A military operation against militants has started in Salinder forest area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday, police said.

The police officials said that the operation started shortly after joint forces including the army’s 14RR, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area following inputs about the presence of militants there.

When reports last came the firing was going on from both sides, however, there was no casualty on either side so far. Besides, the number of trapped militants and their affiliation were not immediately known.

Meanwhile, another operation against militants is underway in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The operation, officials said, began after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the forest area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.

This is the second military operation Anantnag witnessed in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, around this time, the military operation had started in Kreeri Dooru area of Anantnag. The operation ended with the killing of two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants.
