The foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq have jointly called for an urgent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to address the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine.

In a recent telephone conversation, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein discussed the evolving situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Both ministers underscored the importance of unity and coordination among Muslim nations to support the Palestinian people.

They urged the OIC to convene an emergency meeting to assess the unfolding developments in Palestinian lands and to extend solidarity to Palestinians and the al-Aqsa Mosque in the face of the Israeli regime’s brutal actions.

Amir Abdollahian emphasized the Palestinians’ legitimate right to resist Israeli aggression and occupation. He characterized the surprise operation carried out by Hamas members and other Gaza-based resistance fighters as a natural response to Israel’s ongoing aggression, its extremist activities targeting holy Islamic sites like the al-Aqsa Mosque, and its indiscriminate violence against Palestinian civilians, including women, children, and prisoners.

According to Palestinian medical authorities, the Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip has resulted in the tragic loss of over 400 lives, with many more sustaining injuries. Hospital reports from the region indicate that 436 civilians, including 91 children and 61 women, have tragically lost their lives, while 2,271 others have been injured. Furthermore, numerous buildings, homes, and public facilities have suffered extensive damage due to the heavy Israeli airstrikes.

The ongoing conflict in Palestine escalated following retaliatory attacks by Hamas soldiers on Israel, triggered by the perceived occupation crimes committed by Israeli forces across Palestinian territories. Subsequently, Israel launched a fierce military campaign, resulting in brutal attacks on Palestinian civilians.

Reports emerged of the alleged use of banned chemical weapons, specifically the ‘white-phosphorus bomb,’ on Palestinian civilians, causing significant concern among international observers. Tragically, within less than two days, the violence in Gaza claimed the lives of approximately 400 people, underscoring the urgent need for a ceasefire and international intervention to prevent further loss of life and suffering.
