An Israeli military spokesperson has said that the operation to locate and kill Muhammed Deif, the leader of Hamas’ armed wing, may extend over a significant period, Anadolu Agency reported.

Rear Adm Daniel Hagari emphasised the necessity of achieving this goal, underscoring that the timeline is expected to be prolonged, as reported by Yedioth Ahronoth daily.

During a press conference, Hagari highlighted Israel’s commitment to killing Al-Qassam Brigades leader Dayf, emphasising that regardless of the duration required, the mission will be pursued. The Israeli army has completed the dismantling of an underground infrastructure beneath Al-Rantisi Hospital in northern Gaza City, asserting the discovery of “several kilometers” of such structures.

Since the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, which was a retaliation to decades long occupational crimes in Palestine by Israel, Tel Aviv has expressed its objective to eliminate the Palestinian group Hamas. However, many international analysts remain skeptical about the feasibility of achieving this goal.

Israel initiated a substantial military campaign in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the reported deaths of at least 21,110 Palestinians, primarily women and children, and causing injuries to 55,243 others, according to local health authorities.

The relentless offensive has left Gaza severely damaged, with 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure in ruins. Nearly 2 million people have been displaced, grappling with acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicines.
