New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, successfully secured the trust vote in the Delhi Assembly on Thursday.

Out of the 62 AAP MLAs, 54 were present for the voting. Chief Minister of Delhi Kejriwal contended that there were no defections within the AAP ranks, explaining that two MLAs were in jail, some were unwell, and others were out of station.

Kejriwal emphasised the necessity of the confidence motion due to alleged attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to lure AAP MLAs. He claimed that several MLAs had reported being approached and offered money to switch sides by people allegedly associated with the BJP.

Kejriwal asserted that the BJP believed arresting him would weaken the AAP, questioning, “You may arrest me, but how will you silence Kejriwal’s thoughts?”

During his remarks on the confidence motion, Kejriwal declared, “The AAP poses the greatest challenge to the BJP, which is why it is facing attacks from all directions.”

In the Delhi Assembly, he stated with responsibility, “If the BJP does not lose the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, then the AAP will liberate India from the BJP in 2029.”

Kejriwal further accused the BJP of impeding his government’s work by exerting control over the Services department and the bureaucracy.

He criticised the BJP, stating, “They claim to be Ram bhakt (devotees of Lord Ram), but they halted the supply of medicines to the poor in our hospitals. Did Lord Ram advocate stopping medicines for the needy?” Kejriwal highlighted that he has faced previous attacks, including physical assaults and attempts to arrest him.
