Chandigarh: Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut claimed she was slapped and verbally abused by a woman CISF constable during a security check at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday, according to PTI.
The incident occurred two days after Ranaut was elected to the Lok Sabha from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
The constable, reportedly upset with Ranaut’s stance on the farmer protests, has been suspended, and an FIR has been lodged against her. The Central Industrial Security Force, responsible for airport security, has initiated a court of inquiry into the matter.
In a video statement titled “Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab” posted on X after arriving in Delhi, Ranaut detailed the incident, noting numerous calls from the media and her supporters.
She recounted that the constable approached from the side, slapped her, and began abusing her, justifying her actions by stating her support for the farmer protests. Ranaut expressed concerns about “increasing terrorism” in Punjab.
Another video circulating on social media showed the agitated constable speaking to people, reportedly stating that Ranaut had claimed farmers protesting in Delhi were paid Rs100 or Rs200, and that her mother had been one of the protesters.
During the protests against the three farm laws, Ranaut had mistakenly identified a Punjab farmer as Bilkis Bano, an elderly woman known for her role in the anti-CAA protests. Ranaut had tweeted that the “Shaheen Bagh dadi” was available for hire for Rs 100, but later deleted the tweet after users slammed her for wrong information.
