Israel kills 40 Palestinians in last 24 hours, toll 40,134: Health Ministry

Children walk on the rubble after Israeli strike on Gaza.

At least 40 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, raising the total death toll since October 7 to 40,134, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry on Monday.

The ministry also reported that approximately 92,743 people have been injured in the ongoing assaults.

In the past 24 hours, Israeli forces have killed 40 people and injured 134 more in three incidents described by the ministry as “massacres of families”.

The statement also noted that many remain trapped under rubble and in the streets, with rescuers unable to reach them.

Israel has continued its relentless offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023, following a Hamas attack, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

More than 10 months into the conflict, large areas of Gaza have been reduced to ruins, exacerbated by a severe blockade on food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel is facing accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered an immediate halt to its military operations in Rafah, where over 1 million Palestinians had sought refuge before the city was invaded on May 6.
