Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed regional issues and jointly called for a ceasefire in Gaza during their meeting.

On Thursday, they reviewed major developments in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and stressed the need for continued collaboration and coordination of Arab and international efforts to end the aggression, according to a statement from al-Sudani’s media office, as reported by Xinhua.

Al-Sudani called on the international community to take a more active role in stopping the ongoing “genocide” against the Palestinian people, which has lasted for over 10 months, the statement said.

Additionally, the two leaders explored opportunities for enhancing cooperation in various areas, especially in political and economic fields, and discussed the activation of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council to promote mutual benefits for both countries.
