The United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) has raised alarms regarding the potential destruction of the Palestinian population in Gaza’s northernmost governorate, citing concerns about mass death and displacement, Al Jazeera reported.

The UN highlighted the situation in Jabalia, Beit Hanoon, and Beit Lahiya, where an Israeli attack resulted in the death or disappearance of over 87 Palestinians after an entire residential block was leveled.

In Lebanon, tensions escalated as Israeli missiles struck southern Beirut, following attacks that claimed at least 16 lives across the country on Saturday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Additionally, the UN reported that an Israeli army bulldozer demolished a peacekeeping observation tower in southern Lebanon, further escalating tensions with the UN Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The humanitarian toll in Gaza continues to rise dramatically, with at least 42,603 Palestinians reported killed and 99,795 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023. The situation was exacerbated by Hamas’s assault on southern Israel, which resulted in at least 1,139 fatalities and over 200 individuals taken captive.

The ongoing conflict has prompted urgent calls for international intervention and humanitarian assistance to address the escalating crisis in both Gaza and Lebanon.
