Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has issued a stern directive to the Jammu and Kashmir police, stressing upon the need to track down and severely punish the perpetrators of the recent Ganderbal terrorist attack that claimed seven lives, including a doctor.
Addressing the Police Commemoration Day at the Armed Police Complex in Srinagar, LG Sinha condemned the attack, stating that such loss of innocent lives is intolerable. He urged the police, army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure there is “no laxity” in the ongoing fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha further pointed out that the threat of terrorism, originating from neighbouring countries, continues to persist.
He emphasised the importance of collective efforts from armed forces to root out militancy entirely from the region.
Additionally, he lauded the professionalism and bravery of the Jammu and Kashmir police in maintaining law and order, combating militancy, and aiding civilians during difficult times.
Sinha assured that demands of the next of kin (NoK) of slain armed personnel are being fulfilled. He also highlighted the youth’s growing involvement in strengthening democracy in the region and addressed the administration’s focus on eradicating drug abuse, which is severely affecting the younger generation.
