Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced plans to provide 100 units of free electricity to deserving families. Addressing the Legislative Assembly in Srinagar, he mentioned that the government is finalising details for the scheme.

Sinha stated that all government buildings will soon have solar rooftop connections under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Scheme (PMSGS). He also emphasised the government’s commitment to secure the safe return of Kashmiri Pandit migrants and ensure safe accommodations for migrant employees.

The LG reiterated the goal of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s commitment. He expressed optimism about working with the Legislative Assembly to fulfill this vision.

The government aims to support the region’s economic growth, which has reached an annual output of 7%, and ensure equitable development across all areas. Employment opportunities, infrastructure improvements—including road, water, power, and internet—are top priorities.

Sinha highlighted plans for enhanced connectivity, including the rail link from Delhi to Kashmir, the implementation of PMGSY and NABARD schemes, and night landing facilities at Jammu and Srinagar airports to boost economic growth.

The government will also implement C. Rangarajan’s report on poverty and will focus on anti-drug efforts, healthcare improvements, and innovative support for farmers. Upgrading urban infrastructure based on local needs is also on the agenda.
