Kashmir continues to reel under intense cold; Shopian shivers at minus 10.2°C

Srinagar: The Kashmir Valley continues to reel under intense cold, with most regions recording sub-zero temperatures. Shopian emerged as the coldest in the valley at -10.2°C, while Anantnag followed closely at -9.0°C. Sonamarg recorded -7.1°C, and Pulwama experienced -8.4°C. Srinagar, the summer capital, saw the mercury drop to -6.0°C.

In the Jammu region, Banihal shivered at -1.9°C, while Jammu recorded a comparatively mild 5.1°C. Udhampur was close to freezing at 0.1°C, and Bhaderwah recorded -0.6°C.

The Ladakh region faced severe cold, with Kargil recording a bone-chilling -13.5°C and Leh at -11.2°C. Drass’s data remains unavailable, but the region is known for its freezing conditions during this time of year.

As temperatures continue to drop, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to combat the harsh weather.
