Three Khalistanis, identified as Gurvinder Singh, Virender Singh alias Ravi, and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh, were killed in a joint operation conducted by the Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Police in the early hours of Monday, December 23.
The encounter took place in the Puranpur police station area of Pilibhit district.
The slain were members of the banned Khalistan Commando Force and were accused of launching a grenade and bomb attack on a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district last Friday.
While the attack caused no casualties or damage, it heightened security measures in the region.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of armed suspects in Puranpur, Punjab Police informed their Uttar Pradesh counterparts, leading to a coordinated operation. When the suspects were cornered, they fired at the police, resulting in retaliatory action that left all three dead.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav described the encounter as a significant breakthrough against Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module.
In a statement on X, he said, “The encounter took place in the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit. Injured persons have been rushed to CHC Puranpur for immediate medical attention. Investigations are underway to dismantle the entire terror network. Two AK rifles and two Glock pistols have been recovered.”
The police seized two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a large quantity of live ammunition.
